Windows 7 "copy to" user profile button disabled
I had to join Windows 7 clients to a Samba domain. After joining the domain i wanted to copy users old local profile to the roaming profile share on the file server using the "copy button" in the user profile management. But this button was grayed out/disabled for all profiles but the standard profile.
There is a piece of software that will enable this button again.
Simply download "Windows enabler" und start it as system administrator (right click on programs symbol) on the box where you want to copy the local user profile to the roaming profile. Go to the system tray and activate the "windows enabler". Now the "copy to" button gets enabled once you click on it.
Hint: You need to copy the user profile to the corresponding directory on the file server with a ".V2" extension, e.g. "\\server\profiles\username.V2" or where your roaming profiles are configured to point to.
Have fun! Did it work for you? Drop your comment...

Here is the way on my web site :

The Button is greyed out, until you klick on it ;)
Than it activates und works fine (for me).
If it doesn't work for you:
You need to left click the icon in the tray to turn it on.
I went into the profile window and found "Copy To" was still grayed out, but I clicked it anyways and it became enabled.
You really have to "run as administrator" the Enabler applic, even if you are logged as The Administrator account.(?)
Copy To is grayed, but click once on it and it becomes enabled.
(Win7 32b in domain).
You saved my time.
Microsoft, what did you do ?
Run Windows Enabler, it will appear in the system tray. Open up your system until you see the greyed out Copy To.. option. Now double click Windows Enabler to activate it. Now, click once on the greyed button and you'll see it becomes a usable button again. Proceed with profile copying as normal!
Also if you need to go one step further and restore an account listed as "Account Unknown" combine the Windows Enabler trick with this tip:

This worked for me on Windows 7 64bit.
Thanks for the tip. It worked perfectly.
Have a nice day! :)

I do have 2 questions for you if you do not mind.
Could it be simply me or does it look as if like some of the remarks come across as if they are left by brain dead people?
:-P And, if you are writing at additional places, I would like to follow anything fresh you have to post.
Could you post a list of the complete urls of all your
public pages like your Facebook page, twitter feed, or linkedin profile?

I'm running a 32-bit Windows 7, and I did run the program 'run as administrator', and I did click on the 'Copy-To' button multiple times, even though it was grayed out.
Left-click the icon in the tray to turn it on. Then click on the button that is greyed-out, and it will make it clickable.
